EastEnders fans discovered Big Mo’s real age this week, and they couldn’t believe their ears.
The Walford matriarch has been living in the Square since 2000 and has, in fact, made no secret of her age.
But Jean reminded us of the fact when she blurted out the news on Thursday (2 August), and BBC viewers were incredulous.

“You seen my tabard?” Big Mo asked Jean Slater during an early scene in the episode.
“On the pile on the sofa,” Jean replied.
“I can’t find it!” she replied, to which Jean snapped: “Well, look under something for once!”
When Hayley offered to help, Jean said: “No. She’s an 82-year-old woman. She can find her own flippin’ tabard.”

As Big Mo walked off in a huff, Hayley asked: “Is she seriously 82?”
Fans were just as shocked, with one saying: “Did she just say Mo was 82yo?!”
Another simply refused to believe it, writing: “Was jean joking in eastenders tonight when she said big mo was 82?!?!?”
A third flabbergasted fan said: “Mo is 82?! Since when?!”

In fact, despite much disbelief on social media, we can confirm that EastEnders showed Big Mo celebrating her 75th birthday in February 2011…
So the character is, actually, 82.
However, actress Laila Morse – sister to Darkest Hour actor Gary Oldman – is only 73 in real life.
That’s why she looks so good!
