There’s a newcomer arriving in Weatherfield, and soap fans might find her familiar…

And it’s not the first time she’s appeared in a serial drama.

The brunette previously played Dr Georgina Woodson in BBC1’s Doctors.
She’s no stranger to comedy, either, having portrayed the Prime Minister’s wife in Little Britain, and starred in The Office opposite Ricky Gervais.
Stirling has also popped up in Casualty, Holby City and even played the Mayor of Walford in EastEnders.

Now she’s set to cause all sorts of drama in Coronation Street when she joins as Sophie’s cougar lover.
The 47-year-old will play Paula Cunliffe, a childhood friend of Sophie’s mum Sally who has become a hugely successful lawyer.
Sally will call on her services when she’s accused of fraud.
While Paula DOES help Sally with the case, she also falls for Sophie and the pair embark on a passionate affair.
An insider told The Sun: “Sophie hasn’t had much luck with romance on the cobbles, but it appears this time it’s finally going in the right direction for her.
“She allows herself to start falling in love with the lawyer but Sally is furious when her friend tells her she has feelings for her daughter.”
Sally is reportedly “livid about the age gap and brands her friend a cradle-snatcher”.
Sophie was most recently in a relationship with Kate Connor, and was previously engaged to Sian Powers.
There’s no word yet on when Stirling will make her first appearance on the cobbles, but it can’t come soon enough for unlucky-in-love Sophie!
