The presenter was interviewing Bronson’s fiancee, Paula Williamson, when he wrongly claimed that Charles had attacked a prison governor.
Now it’s believed that Bronson, who has spent much of his life behind bars for armed robberies and sieges, is considering legal action.
During the interview, Richard said to Paula: “He keeps reoffending.
“We have his charge sheet. In his last incident he attacked a prison governor last year.”
Paula, 37, who has appeared in Coronation Street and Emmerdale, told the host he was wrong and that Bronson hadn’t committed an offence since 2013.
At this point, Richard looked at the camera and said: “Charlie, you’re watching now. You’re lying.
“You know it was 2016 mate. It was, it was last year.”
He then added: “He’s a bad ‘un and he’s got a lot of form.”
The Sun claims that GMB have received notice of legal action by Bronson who allegedly told a friend in a phone call that his mum was upset by Richard’s claims.
The show has been asked to retract the claims as well as pay out compensation.
A spokesman for the show said: “We mistakenly stated that Mr Salvador [Bronson] had attacked a prison officer in 2016.
“This was incorrect. We are happy to make this clarification.”
The 64-year-old has been in solitary confinement for 36 years since he was first locked up for armed robbery back in 1974.

He changed his last name to Salvador recently as a tribute to artist Salvador Dali, whose paintings he is said to be a fan of.
Paula was on GMB talking about her plans to have Bronson’s baby via artificial insemination because she’d been denied conjugal visits to her fiance.
