Rod Stewart insists he’s in ‘wonderful health’ after concerning ‘my days are numbered’ comment

The singer has suffered setbacks recently

Rod Stewart has issued a statement concerning his health.

It comes after fans of the rocker, 79, expressed concern after Rod recently told fans his “days were numbered”.

That comment came following the cancellation of three gigs in the US as the Maggie May star suffered with strep throat and Covid.

But now Rod has insisted he’s “not dying” amid some rest and recuperation with wife Penny Lancaster.

Rod Stewart health update

Speaking to The Sun last month, Rod reflected: “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.”

He added: “I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few – probably another 15, I can do that easy mate, easy.”

Since then, an “absolutely gutted” Rod cancelled shows in Las Vegas and California following his double whammy health setback.

He told fans following the Vegas gig postponement: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.”

Rod has since spoken to The Sun again, clarifying his previous remarks to the tabloid.

Aren’t everybody’s days numbered?

The dad of eight explained: “When I said ‘My days are numbered,’ it was purely in jest. Aren’t everybody’s days numbered? I am in embarrassingly wonderful health and enjoying life to the full. I am not dying as far as I know.”

He also noted he wants to achieve a fitness world record for a 79-year-old by attempting to run 100 metres in 18 seconds. Rod said he trains three or four times a week on his own personal football field, gym and swimming pool.

He also said he maintains his fitness with a personal trainer.
