Swedish Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson has died aged 61.
The star’s death was announced with a statement from her family in national newspaper Expressen.
It read: “Marie Fredriksson is most mourned by her husband Mikael Bolyos and their two children.
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that one of our biggest and most beloved artists is gone.
“Marie Fredriksson died on the morning of December 9 [following] her previous illness.”
The report added that she died from complications from a previous illness; a brain tumour.

The singer is survived by her husband Mikael Bolyos and their two children, daughter Inez Josefin and son Oscar.

Roxette shot to fame in the UK in the late 80s. They had big hits with It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, Listen To Your Heart and The Look.
Co-star Per Gessie also paid tribute, saying in a statement: “All my love for you and your family.
“Things will never be the same.”
Roxette is the second most commercially successful band from Sweden, behind ABBA.
