Russell Brand ‘wants to apologise to Katy Perry for how marriage ended’

Over to you, Katy...

| Updated:

Russell Brand has said he plans to apologise to ex-wife Katy Perry about the way he ended their short-lived marriage.

The pair met in 2009, wed a year later and were divorced two years after that in acrimonious circumstances.

Russell is now happily ensconced with wife Laura Gallacher, while Katy is engaged to English actor Orlando Bloom.

But the comic, 44, is planning to meet with Katy, 34, in LA to say sorry.

The dad-of-two is currently in Hollywood on tour and has been given the go-ahead by Laura, 31, and Orlando to contact Katy.

A source told The Sun: “Russell is hoping to see Katy next week.

“He wants to say sorry — in particular for the way it ended which was mostly his doing.

“He also wants to apologise for his moods and jealousy.”

Two years ago Katy opened up about how damaged she was from the divorce and their doomed relationship.

“I’m not the kind of person who is always like, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.'”

“I was in bed for about two weeks. I was pretty [bleep], yes. It hurt a lot—I got a good knock.”
She added: “Unfortunately, although I had the outward self-identity, I didn’t have the inner kind, I hadn’t built that up.
“My self-worth was in someone else’s hands which is never a good idea, because it can be taken from you at any time. And it was, and it was shattered.”

The star channeled her pain into the album Prism.

“What I wanted to call this record at first was Adult Reality because Teenage Dream was so high on that cotton candy cloud, and then it’s like I got punched in the face and kicked down the stairs a couple of times.
“So I had to face the reality that things are not always on cloud nine.”
Ent Daily has contacted Russell’s publicist for comment.
