Eamonn and Ruth reveal different views on embarrassing their son!

The This Morning presenters have a 16-year-old son

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford share a teenage son, Jack, and the pair have revealed they feel quite differently about embarrassing him on telly!

While Ruth said she’s always “mindful” of how Jack, 16, may feel, Eamonn joked he has no intention of watching what he says to spare their son’s feelings!

Their different approaches were revealed as they spoke to Bella magazine.

Ruth, 58, said: “What’s always at the forefront of my mind is that we have a 16-year-old son. We know what it’s like being a teenager and how easily your parents can embarrass you – just by breathing sometimes!”

Appearing to speak on behalf of them both, Ruth continued: “He’s got not just one parent on television, but two, so we are always mindful of saying too much. My boundary is if Jack would find something awkward or humiliating at school, then I would say ‘no’.”

But Eamonn, also 58, joked that he’s not so sensitive to how his son feels.

“Jack’s embarrassed about everything. I have no intention of being reined in by my children because they’ll be my age soon enough – as I always tell them,” he said.

Eamonn also has three grown-up children from a previous relationship.

He had Declan, 29, Rebecca, 26, and Niall, 24, with his first wife Gabrielle.

This Morning presenters Eamonn and Ruth, who married in 2010, rarely post pictures or talk about Jack on social media.

But Ruth did recently share an image of him on Loose Women.

As she hosted the ITV lunchtime show earlier this month, she revealed how she’d managed to persuade him to pose for a photo with her, after bosses challenged the presenters to recreate childhood images with their kids.

They were inspired to try the trend, after seeing the many hilarious pictures of parents and siblings re-staging poses from the past on the internet.

Ruth admitted it did take “some persuading” to get Jack, who is currently revising for his GCSEs, to take part.

After he reluctantly agreed to pose for a picture, Ruth chose to recreate an image of them in bed from when Jack was a couple of months old.

“I look knackered, don’t I?” she said of the original pic, where baby Jack is closest to the camera and she lies behind him.

She then showed the recreation of a grown-up Jack, now dwarfing his mother.

The Loose Women panel and the studio audience laughed and clapped when they saw the updated image.

“He was saying ‘really mum, do I have to do this?’ So thank you, Jack!” Ruth said.
