Coronation Street actress Sair Khan has revealed why Aidan Connor left Underworld to her character Alya Nazir.
In the aftermath of Aidan’s devastating suicide, his family were left reeling when his will revealed he’d left the factory to Alya.
But Sair believes the news shouldn’t be that surprising as Alya and Aidan “shared the same vision”.
In scenes to air next week, Alya is informed that Aidan left the factory to her in his will.
Aidan’s family already knew about the explosive detail, but have been desperately trying to figure out a way of keeping the business for themselves.
Revealing that Alya is set to put up a fight against the Connor family, Sair told Digital Spy why it becomes so important to her.
Sair explained: “When Carla left, Alya took an instrumental role in the factory and worked her way back up.
“The factory was robbed and everyone was out of a job, but Alya played a big part in rallying the troops, so she has put a lot of time, effort, blood, sweat and tears into it. She feels at home there, so it means a lot to Alya.”

She continued: “Alya is trying to keep the vision alive that she and Aidan have created in Carla’s absence, so she has a very strong and unique idea about where this factory is heading, but Carla keeps undermining her, which is really unfair.”
Sair goes on to describe her character’s surprise when she discovers the factory has been left to her, adding: “It’s complete disbelief and shock but actually, when she thinks about it, it does make sense because Aidan knew how much Alya believes in the factory.
“Money aside, talking about dreams, ambitions and hopes for the future, they shared the same vision, so in that respect it does make sense for Aidan to give Alya the factory to carry that legacy on for him.”
The actress added that “Carla has met her match”.
Let the battle commence!
Aidan took his own life in devastating scenes shown earlier this month.
After a secret battle with depression, the factory boss settled his affairs and died on his own in his flat where he was discovered by his dad Johnny the next day.
The character left the soap on Monday 7 May.
