X Factor winner Sam Bailey has opened up about her concerns over romance reality series Love Island after it made her 12-year-old daughter “want to go on a diet”.
The singer appeared on Thursday’s Lorraine and revealed she allowed her daughter, Brooke, to watch the ITV2 show.
But after seeing all the toned contestants Sam said it wasn’t long before Brooke started talking about going on a diet.

Speaking to host Christine Lampard, who’s standing in for Lorraine Kelly over the summer, Sam said: “She wanted to watch it because all her friends were watching it.”
Sam admitted she wasn’t happy with Brooke watching it at first but then allowed her as long as she could ask her questions about the raunchy show.
She continued: “I started to watch it because I wanted to have that common ground with her because she’s only going to watch it behind my back if not.
“Next thing you know I’m hooked on it!”
Talking about the show causing body image problems Sam, 40, said: “It would be nice to see some more plumper ladies in there.
“For me Love Island is great, everyone in it is stunning, beautiful and thin but my daughter is like ‘Oh I’ve got a bit of fat, I need to go on a diet’.
“She’s 12 and it really frustrates me.”
But Sam revealed that Brooke is starting to realise that she doesn’t need to have the perfect body.
She added: “But she gets it now. She knows she’s still growing and is going to be beautiful when she’s older regardless.”
Sam, who found fame on The X Factor in 2013, also spoke about her latest stint in Fat Friends the musical.
Explaining why she chose to do the show Sam admitted: “The reason I’m doing Fat Friends is to let everyone know that it’s OK to be the size that you are and OK to be real.”

Love Island finished last month after seven weeks of being on air every night.
But Sam isn’t the only person to suggest the show could cause body image issues.
The show’s host Caroline Flack opened up about her own body issues recently and admitted that the show can portray an “unrealistic body image”.
Speaking about it giving off the wrong impression to young girls Caroline told The Telegraph: “I have nothing to do with the casting, so I can’t say why they pick certain people, but the type of people who apply are already quite body-confident, I guess.”
The stunning presenter spoke about her own insecurities and revealed she used to have no body confidence.
She told The Sun: “There will always be things you’re insecure about, that’s just being human isn’t it?
“I mean, I’ve got a really non-symmetrical face but I can’t change it. Well, I probably could actually but I’m not going to.
“I used to hate my boobs but now I like them. I used to want to be thin, but now I’m happy being curvy and strong.”
Good for her!
