Piers Morgan has said he wished Cheryl and Liam Payne were more “honest” about their split.
The former couple, who share a son, Bear, together, announced their split on Sunday night, saying it was a “tough decision” to make but they “still have so much love for each other as a family”.
During Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Piers, 53, slammed the pair saying their two-and-a-half year relationship “isn’t an achievement”.

Piers said: “Interesting isn’t it that we now frame Cheryl Tweedy and Liam Payne’s marriage as ‘having lasted more than two years’ that’s how we described that.”
His co-star Susanna Reid then reminded Piers that the pair actually aren’t married.
He added: “It’s sad for them I just think this idea that we categorise it as some kind of achievement, I mean it’s not really is it?”
Showbiz reporter Richard Arnold then read out Cheryl and Liam’s joint statement that they both posted on their Twitter accounts.
It read: “We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make.
We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.

“We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”
Piers then said: “It’s always weird when people say they have so much love and respect for each other.
“Well, if you loved each other that much what are you doing splitting up?”
He added: “I always think these statements should be a little more honest; ‘We can’t stand the sight of each other’.
“In the end, if it’s two years and you split up it’s just you don’t like each other any more isn’t it?”
Susanna replied: “Apparently, they are at ‘different stages’ in their life.”
Piers said: “But that was always going to be the case, wasn’t it?”
Cheryl and Liam first met on The X Factor in 2008, when she was a judge and he was auditioning for the show.
