Scarlett Moffatt forced to defend her choice of birthday gift for little sister

It all started to kick off on presenter's Instagram

You’d think that when it comes to posts on Instagram, one showing the presents you’ve bought for your 11-year-old sister would be pretty uncontroversial.

Turns out: not.

When Scarlett Moffatt posted a host of goodies from hilarious US TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race that she’d bought for her little sis Ava-Grace, she was panned by people who thought her gifts were inappropriate.

One posted ‘❤️u Scarlett but this is a bit odd for an 11 year old?’

Another took specific issue with the ‘Not today Satan’ t-shirts that Scarlett had got for Ava-Grace.

“giving an 11 year old tshirts with Satan on them is a bit more disturbing than the whole drag thing tbh tho” [sic] they said.

“Is that what 11 year old are into??” [sic] questioned another.

Luckily Scar’s fans were quick to jump to her defence with loads thinking that she and her sister are actually absolute legends for their choices.

“Scarlett I think it’s absolutely amazing that she watches it with you, horrible people in the world brew so much hate on topics such as this and it’s so amazing your sister loves it, I think it’s brilliant xxxxx” said one.

“My 11 year old daughter knows all about drag queens as one of my friends is one! I don’t see a problem with it. So if @scarlett_moffatt wants to buy things for her sister to celebrate the different people that make up this fantastic society that we live in, where’s the harm? Happy Birthday” added another.

The comments kept coming with one saying: “Fabulous lets teach kids from an early age you don’t have to fit the norm of society to be amazing! Long live the queens!” [sic]

The debate got so heated that Scarlett herself waded into it, posting a response.

“Have you ever been to a pantomime ? I’m sorry but I really don’t understand why you have such a problem.

“Also I’m taking her to New York to a RuPaul drag convention where there is a CHILD AREA – if it wasn’t meant for children why would there be an area specified for them?

“Let’s just all stay positive and embrace the fact everyone’s different and unique x.”

High five to that, Scarlett.
