Imagine you’re a celeb on a high profile TV show who has dated a fair share of guys in the past.
What’s the last thing you want? Yep, an ex crawling out of the woodwork and spilling the beans.
But that’s exactly what has happened to nation’s sweetheart Scarlett Moffatt, who is, luckily, basking in I’m A Celeb glory and quite probably (definitely) doesn’t give two figs right now.
Unsurprisingly, due to Scarlett’s massive popularity… some naughty newspaper scamp, with a sniffy nose for sleaze, has hit the road to hunt down an ex expecting him to fill their dictaphone with tawdry tales of wickedness and debauchery.
Only the newspaper ghoul came away with a story they probably didn’t expect.
Ian Billett, 30, was tracked down and asked about his relationship with Scarlett and – well – has revealed that HE ended up dumping the gobby Geordie telly-watcher.
And you’ll never guess why!
The pair started dating for two months after meeting at a Gogglebox book signing where Ian was working as a security guard.
And while things were rosy for a couple of months, Ian admits that he could tell their relationship wasn’t going to work and decided to call time on it.
“She didn’t take too kindly to it at the time,” he said. “It was my decision and it was the right thing to do for both of us.”
But if you think Ian was being cruel – think again. It turns out he had Scarlett’s interests at heart. Bless him.
“It sounds like I’m a softie but her career was really starting to take off.
“She was being invited all over the place, the door was just opening for her,” he explained.
“I have two jobs, a mortgage and my life is very settled.
“I thought we were at different places in our lives and it was for the best for her that we split up.
“I didn’t want to linger about and hold her back.”
Awww… he didn’t want to hold her back. How sweet is that, eh?
Bet the journo was furious that there was no sleaze.
Civil servant Ian, who also works as a doorman and a personal trainer, met Scarlett at the Newcastle book signing two years ago.
They started texting each other before setting up a date.
Their relationship may have lasted a short time, but Ian got a good gauge of what life was like for the Gogglebox princess.
He reveals that she found it hard dealing with her growing fame.
“She is sometimes a bit too eager to please and would never cause offence by asking someone to leave her alone,” he said of the attention she received.
“So we’d go out and she’d be getting asked to pose for photos with people and would never say no.
“I ended up thinking she didn’t know when enough is enough.”
He also explained that Scarlett, who now dates gorgeous Luke Crodden, would really take what people said to hear and would analyse everything people would say to her.
“I remember one lady saying, ‘You must have lots of friends now you’re on the TV’. She didn’t mean anything by it.
“But Scarlett struggled with the idea people might think she was only popular because of her celebrity.
“All she wants is for people to like her for who she is and I think that has shown itself in the jungle,” Ian gushed.
He added: “What you see is what you get, there is no pretence and she’s always 100% honest.”
So true, and that’s why the nation crowned her our jungle queen!
