Emmerdale bosses have had to scrap plans to bring back all the dead characters in the show’s history.
Writers of the show planned to bring back popular characters like Val Pollard, Gerry Roberts and even the likes of Sarah Sugden for a special Halloween episode.
But they were forced to abandon plans after realising how expensive it would be.
According to the Sunday Mirror, ITV’s managing editor of continuing drama John Whiston, revealed the juicy tidbit.
He said: “The writers pitched the idea of all the ghosts of Emmerdale coming out for Halloween.

“But we wouldn’t have been able to afford it because there are so many dead people around the village.”
Most recently the show brought back Val Pollard as a ghostly apparition for an unconscious Robert Sugden in the Christmas episode.
Val, played by Charlie Hardwick up until 2015, returned two years after her on-screen death.
She was killed in dramatic scenes in a house of mirrors when a helicopter crash left her trapped under a perilously dangling shard of mirror.
And she delighted viewers when she returned to haunt Robert as he was plagued by the guilt of all the bad deeds he had done in the village.
It wasn’t the first time the show had experimented with its episodes.
John added: “We’ve been known to have an experimental streak.
“Going back a bit, we heard the voices in Zoe Tate’s head as she burned down the church.

“More recently, we’ve seen the world through Ashley’s eyes as his dementia took hold.
“Our audience go with us, but only when they feel we’ve earned the right to take them on a particular journey.”
