Fans of Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge Shirley Ballas have reacted with concern after she shared an image of a painful-looking alternative medicine procedure on Instagram.
Shirley, 57, revealed she recently underwent wet cupping to help treat her problems with sciatica.
Only earlier this month, in another Instagram post, she wrote about the “excruciating back pain” she suffers when teaching dance.
Listing the types of different approaches she has tried out, she said then she would be giving Chinese remedies a try.

But it seems many of her 53,000 followers on the photo-sharing social media network weren’t ready for the gruesome sight of what appears to be a severely bruised leg.
Indeed, the therapy looks to have been so successful at drawing blood to her skin that it almost looks as if she is bleeding.
“I’ve done chiropractor, massage, acupuncture, exercise including special stretching, cupping, and today I tried wet cupping,” she noted in the caption.
Explaining the remedy took three hours to complete, Shirley also noted she’d keep fans posted as to whether it had succeeded or not.

Many of her fans had the same thought – but still posted messages of support and shared their own experiences with sciatica and wet cupping.
“NOT FUN! I go thru it too but find relief stretching & standing on my head!” commented user marylouiseeller.
“Oh my word this looks painful,” added hazelee80.
And liverbird1964 remarked: “That looks dreadfully painful.”
Last month Shirley revealed another health concern, opening up about the terrifying moment she thought she might have breast cancer.
