Demi Lovato has announced that she is taking a break from the limelight.
The singer and actress told fans on social media that she will take time off next year, saying she was “not meant for this business and the media”.
The 24-year-old revealed she was excited about stepping back.

When a fan asked about her decision and whether she would return, Demi replied that she didn’t know as it “doesn’t feel worth it anymore”.
Curious! This announcement followed the release of an article she did with Glamour magazine just yesterday. In it she criticises fellow singer Taylor Swift and her squad for “tearing down” Katy Perry in the Bad Blood video.
“Don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work,” she said. “I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment.
“We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, ‘Am I content with calling myself a feminist?’ Yes, because I speak out.”
The pair have been ‘spatting’ for a while.
“[I’m] just speaking out,” added Demi. “I’m not afraid to talk about the fact that women get paid less than men in the United States and how unfair that is.
“Talking about it at all is doing the work. And I think every woman does her part in some way.
“But I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand.
“To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of ‘squad’ that has a normal body.
“It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real… It’s not realistic.”
Yikes.
Stardom has never been a bump-free road for Demi. She battled substance abuse, self-harming, an eating disorder and depression before ending up in rehab in 2010, and has been outspoken about Internet trolls and the need to promote a positive body image for young fans.
The star came under fire earlier this year after sharing a video on Snapchat of her mother joking about the Zika virus.
Her mum Dianna Hart was heard saying in the clip: “Everybody down in Rio gonna get the Zika virus.”
Demi could be heard laughing in the background.
She later tweeted her apologies.
