Max Branning’s New Romance Twist in EastEnders Revealed

Just when we thought things were complicated enough...

Tonight sees the start of a potential new romance for Max Branning, but you might be surprised when you find out who his love interest is.

Despite the fact his marriage to Rainie Cross has all been for show in a desperate bid to win custody of his granddaughter Abi, it looks like one of the fake couple could be developing real feelings.

Tonight sees Rainie tell Max that they need to be a more convincing couple if they’re going to win their battle for little Abi.

So far it is only eagle-eyed Phil Mitchell who has worked out that Max and Rainie’s marriage is all a sham, but Rainie is worried that more people are going to cotton on to the truth if they don’t get their act together.

Telling Max they need to convince Jack and Mel that they’re the real deal, Rainie decides to host a fancy meal for the four of them.

But Max thinks that nervous Rainie is trying too hard and takes her to one side in tonight’s episode and tells her to calm down.

But as Mel and Jack head off to give the ‘couple’ some space, there’s a surprising turn of events when Rainie kisses Max.

So does this mean she’s actually harbouring real feelings for Mr Branning after all? And if so, how long has this been going on?

Who knows where Max stands when it comes to feelings for Rainie after their surprise kiss, but will this curveball take his eye off of his bid to bring little Abi home?

EastEnders airs at the later time of 9.10 tonight on BBC One. 

EastEnders usually airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
