Simon Cowell delivers a blow to Piers Morgan over Britain’s Got Talent role

There's no place for him on BGT anymore.

Simon Cowell has dashed Piers Morgan’s hopes of returning to the Britain’s Got Talent panel.

The Good Morning Britain host was a judge on the talent show from 2007 to 2010 alongside Amanda Holden and Simon, and also judged on the American counterpart.

The former newspaper editor, 52, recently joked to OK! magazine he would love to make a comeback if he could replace David Walliams.

He said: “I’d be the new head judge if the money was right. If Simon made me an offer I couldn’t refuse I would, and frankly looking at the performance of David Walliams, that question should come sooner rather than later!”

Piers then cheekily pointed out that the show’s ratings were double what they are now when he was involved.

But asked in an interview with Best magazine if he would consider Piers returning, Simon scoffed: “Ha ha, no, that’s never going to happen!”

The music mogul said he’s found a winning formula with his current panel of David, Amanda, himself and Alesha Dixon.

“We all genuinely get on really well. We are just all very comfortable with each other. If I am honest, I just can’t imagine changing the panel,” he said.

He added that although David can get on his nerves as he “never does what he’s told”, he enjoys having the entertaining children’s author around.

Comedian Michael McIntyre initially replaced Piers before Little Britain’s David came on board, while Baywatch’s David Hasselhoff and Louis Walsh, have also been guest judges.

The current panel have been in place in 2012 and the fab four are currently touring the country, along with presenters Ant and Dec, in their hunt for talent to appear at the Royal Variety Performance.

Simon said there are some great acts this year but he didn’t want to give anything away ahead of the show returning to our screens in the spring.

We can’t wait!
