Simon Cowell is set to make a £2m profit on an £18m home in Wimbledon that he never even really lived in!
The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon recently put the house on the market for £18m after he bought it for £15m back in 2019.
Why is Simon selling the house?
The music mogul first bought the house back in 2019 for himself, his partner Lauren Silverman, her son Adam, and Simon’s son with her, Eric. He reportedly paid £15m for the home at the time.
However, when Simon and Lauren realised that Eric’s school was 14 miles away, a journey which would take up to 2 hours, they decided to stay where they were in Holland Park. The couple have a six-bedroom house in Holland Park, Kensington.

Now, after spending £1m on renovating the house they barely lived in in Wimbledon, Simon and Lauren have put it back on the market for £18m. Some of the renovations that Simon had done on the house included the removal of ceilings, fireplaces, and floors.
Are there any other reasons for selling the house?
A source spoke about Simon and Lauren’s plans to sell the house to the Daily Mail. The source said: “Simon and Lauren fancied a change. They wanted to get out of central London and go somewhere a little more leafy. They wanted clean air and to make it their long-term family home.
The source continued, saying: “They spent a lot of time and money on it, but things just didn’t work out, so they have decided to put it on the market and stay put.”
The source then spoke about the star’s son, Eric, who is now 7-years-old, and his school.
“Eric is settled in his school and they didn’t want to move him, so they tried the journey and it was a nightmare.”
The source then went on to say that one journey to Eric’s school took “more than two hours” to complete.
“It was at that point that the family decided not to go ahead with their plan to move,” they said.
Simon Cowell home in Holland Park
Simon’s Wimbledon house is close to King’s College School, which Eric was tipped to attend. The school reportedly costs £21,000 per year.
The music mogul has lived in Holland Park for more than 20 years. Some £1m of jewellery was stolen from this house back in 2015. It was also where Simon sustained injuries from falling down the stairs in 2017.
Simon putting his Wimbledon house up for sale comes just days after he confirmed The X Factor would make a TV return after being off the air since 2019.
His new show, Walk the Line, will air on Sunday, December 12 at 8 pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
