Simon Cowell signs former X Factor contestant to his record label

Who says you need to win to find success, eh?

Last year’s X Factor runner up, Grace Davies, has been signed up to Simon Cowell’s Syco record label.

Grace finished behind winners Rak-Su, who will also be releasing their first album on show boss Simon’s star-studded label.

Grace’s new label mates will include Camila Cabello, James Arthur, Little Mix and former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, making for an unsurprisingly X Factor heavy line up.

Grace announced the news last night on her Twitter account, saying that she’s super excited and working as hard as she can on her new album.

“So excited to finally officially announce that I have been signed up by @syco – my dream,” she wrote.

“So excited for that is to come and I’m working chuffing hard on that album!”

The exciting news was also confirmed to The Sun by a spokesperson for Simon Cowell, who said: “We can confirm that Grace will be signing to Syco Music.”

The Lancashire-born 20-year-old shot to fame on The X Factor partly thanks to her impressive collection of self-penned songs, and has been recording for a while already.

She recently tweeted a picture from the recording studio, adding that “Ya gal is making some bops 4 that album x (sic).”

Rak-Su have already enjoyed a hit with their winners’ song Dimelo reaching number two in the chart in December.

The next move for The X Factor’s new stars will be to hit the road and travel around the UK on The X Factor Tour, and Grace will be joining them alongside Kevin Davy White, Matt Linnen, The Cutkelvins and Lloyd Macey plus a seventh as yet unannounced wildcard act.

Grace’s success sees her join other acts who didn’t win the show but went on to fame and fortune anyway, including Saara Aalto, Olly Murs and JLS who all finished in second place on the talent show.

That’s not to mention a certain One Direction, who only managed a third place finish way back in 2010.

Grace has recently moved into a new home in London and seems like she’s more than ready to put everything into becoming the next performer to become a real X Factor success story.

A move to Syco means she’s well-placed to do that and she’s certainly in good company and in good hands with Mr X Factor himself, Simon Cowell.

We’re very much looking forward to hearing the debut album already, Grace!
