Kay on heartbreaking mum’s death after cancer

Kay previously opened up about the death of her mother, Kath, following her own cancer battle.

Kath died in 1993 after a battle with breast cancer. Her grandmother passed away too of the same condition when Kath was just 18.

On Good Morning Britain in 2018, Kay said: “My mum died when she was my age. My little boy was eight months old. It still makes me sad actually just to think about it.”

She added: “I remember her saying to me at the time: ‘I’m going to die’ and I said: ‘I can’t live without you’. And she said: ‘You are going to have to darling and look after your daddy.'”
