Piers Morgan takes a swipe at BGT over male strippers’ performance

He wasn't happy

Piers Morgan took a dig at Britain’s Got Talent after more than 20 male strippers performed on Sunday night’s final.

Last night, viewers went wild as the cast of Magic Mike Live performed shortly before Hollywood actor Channing Tatum made an appearance on the stage.

But venting his frustration, Good Morning Britain host Piers, 53, took to Twitter to rant about the ‘double standards’ on the show.

He tweeted: “So let me get this straight: F1 Grid Girls banned… Darts Walk-On Girls banned… Boxing Ring Girls banned….

“But 50 male strippers on BGTfinal2018 – happy days, ladies!”

Piers also spoke about the racy performance on Monday’s Good Morning Britain.

He said: “Here we have last night, Magic Mike and Channing Tatum, and it’s basically a bunch of guys stripping off and women going nuts.

“But the point is, why is that allowed? If we had 20 half-naked women, the feminists would have gone, ‘this is disgusting, they are objectifying women, this is treating us as pieces of meat.’

“But when they are male pieces of meat, that’s fine.”

Piers’ remarks come after the strippers gave BGT viewers a preview of Magic Mike Live, which is coming to the UK in November.

After watching the troupe of strippers perform, fans were left surprised after heartthrob Channing walked out on stage.

Shortly before his cameo, a recorded message was played of the actor apologising for not being there.

But little did fans know, he was actually there to announce that Magic Mike Live is coming to London.

While many viewers were happy to see Channing and watch the strippers perform, some had similar views to Piers and hit out at the “double standards.”

One person said: “If this was topless women dancing and men were screaming, there [would] be outrage. Double standards.”

Another ranted: “Double standards eh male strippers are fine but if it was females stripping their would be uproar.”

Other viewers, however, were LOVING the surprise performance!

Meanwhile, viewers saw Lee Ridley, also known as Lost Voice Guy, win the show after beating runner-up comedian Robert White.

Lee is the first comedian to ever win the show and bagged himself £250,000 and the opportunity to perform to the royal family at the Royal Variety Performance.

Lee became a favourite among BGT fans and wowed the judges with his comedy routine in both his audition and his semi final performance.

Following his win, Lee said: “I have been blown away by the support of the judges and the general public.

“I’ve got so much love from everyone and I’m really grateful with it all. I’m very excited to get to perform in front of the Queen.”

He then joked: “I’ve loved her ever since she sang Bohemian Rhapsody,” referring to the hit song sang by the band Queen.
