Songs Of Praise host Aled Jones once suffered a horror injury that forced him to “learn to walk” again.

The singer – who is on screens tonight (August 4) for Songs Of Praise – has been performing on stages for decades, amassing a loyal legion of fans along the way.

But one performance a few years ago ended up with Aled getting rushed to hospital following an injury.

In 2016, Aled spoke to MailOnline, where he was asked several health-related questions.

When asked if he’s ever had any injuries, Aled recalled a “horrendously painful” injury he suffered in 2007 that led to hospitalisation.

“Nine years ago, I partially ruptured my Achilles tendon,” Aled shared.

It was horrendously painful.

He went on to reveal how it happened while on stage during the last dress rehearsal for his first pantomime at Richmond in London.

“Another dancer’s heel went into my left ankle and the Achilles popped. It was horrendously painful. I went straight to hospital but luckily there was a tiny thread of tendon still attached, which grew back eventually,” he explained.

The singer then shared how he was put in cast, but according to Aled, it makes you more susceptible to deep vein thrombosis.

He went on: “Unfortunately, I got one after a few weeks and my leg started to swell. As a result, I was put on blood-thinning warfarin for three months. It took 16 weeks to learn to walk properly again.”
