It appeared Dr Alex George’s luck had finally changed when Ellie Brown entered the Love Island villa.
But now the romance seems doomed to failure before it’s even begun, as the 20-year-old Geordie admits to the other Islanders in tonight’s episode that there’s no chemistry between her and the A&E doctor.
Her behaviour infuriates Alex, 27, who abandoned his friendship pact with Samira Mighty on Friday to recouple with Ellie.
Viewers will see Ellie first express her doubts about Alex in Monday’s show during a chat with the girls.
She says: “I’ll tell you totally how I feel. I came into this villa really wanting to get to know Alex, because I was like ‘do you know what, he will treat me so nice. He’s such a sweetheart.’
“And no offence I was looking at you thinking ‘why does nobody like him?’ I couldn’t get it. And then I’ve come into the villa, and I was like ‘I kind of get it’.”
Megan, who herself had been torn between Alex and Eyal when she first entered the villa said she understood where Ellie was coming from.

“I completely get what you’re saying because that’s how I felt,” she said. “My head and my heart were saying ‘go with him, he’s a gentleman, he’ll treat you exactly what you haven’t had, he’ll be the ultimate gentleman, he’s a lovely person’.”
Ellie then elaborates on her feelings in the Beach Hut, lamenting the fact there is no “sexual attraction or romance” between her and the doc.
“I’m frustrated because I really did want to feel it, but I just can’t force something that’s not there,” she says.
Ellie’s hesitation hasn’t gone unnoticed by Alex – but he becomes increasing annoyed about the way she chooses to talk about it with everyone else except him.
“I think she’s being rude at the moment. She’s very rude, very rude,” he tells his friends.
When they suggest the pair could still be friends, he says: “Absolutely not. I wouldn’t treat someone like this. Absolutely not. I am very annoyed.”
He also ponders if Ellie was ever interested in him, or just pretending so he would save her from being dumped on Friday, when Rosie Williams left the villa.
“My gut says I think she’s not interested,” he says. “I think I’ve made effort, I’ve tried to talk to her, I’ve also tried to give her space, nothing makes a difference. At this moment in time, I’ve absolutely without doubt given everything I can.
“I’ve made all of the effort. I’ve never said a bad word against her or about her. I just wondered if her heart was ever in it at all.”
Ellie later admits to Jack and Dani, who officially became boyfriend and girlfriend last night, that she has been avoiding Alex as she’s worried about upsetting him and “looking like a bad person.”
