Coronation Street boss Kate Oates has hinted that newly-returned Carla Connor could be about to betray her best friend, Michelle, by having a fling with ‘Chelle’s son, Ali Neeson.

Ali – who wasn’t raised by Michelle following a baby mix-up when he was born – has recently reappeared in Weatherfield, working as the new GP in the medical centre.
He’s already broken Michelle’s heart by ignoring her efforts to reach out to him, but is he about to shatter it even further by hooking up with his ma’s BFF?
Speaking to What’s On TV about Carla’s future love life Kate revealed that a new toyboy was heading her way, and it could be even more controversial than her short-lived fling with Daniel Osbourne.
Kate told the publication: “They have great chemistry, but like most Weatherfield relationships, this one won’t be straightforward.
“Carla’s very keen to keep it under wraps.
“She knows that tongues will be wagging if word gets out, and one person in particular will not be pleased at all.”
Could that person be her former sister-in-law?
Before Carla’s long-awaited return to the cobbles, Kate also revealed that her friendship with Michelle would come under strain.
Also speaking to What’s On TV back in September, Kate said: “I am definitely keen to explore different sides of their relationship.
“They have obviously got Robert in common now which is interesting, but their friendship is really strong, so anything that challenges it will have to feel very truthful and quite deep.
“I just want to explore the dynamics – [it] would be a shame to leave everything as is. What’s good about these long-standing friendships is when you challenge them and see what could potentially break them.
