It’s a big week for Chas Dingle in Emmerdale next week when she finally opens up and tells Cain the truth about her unborn baby.
The confession comes after a visit to her consultant reveals that Paddy has been considering having the baby’s organs donated after her birth, leaving Chas devastated that he’s gone behind her back.
Chas heads to Cain’s where she breaks down and reveals the baby girl she’s carrying has Bilateral Renal Agenesis and won’t survive outside of the womb.
She explains to Cain that her daughter’s kidney and lungs haven’t formed properly and that there is zero chance of her making it after she’s born, if she doesn’t die before then.
Cain is absolutely staggered by his sister’s revelation but when she tells him that she’s upset with Paddy for thinking about donating the baby’s organs, he realises that Chas is still holding out for a miracle.
He tries to talk to her about the situation, but is knocked for six when Chas tells him that this changes everything and she can’t go through with the wedding to Paddy.
How will Paddy react? Or will Cain get through to grieving Chas before Paddy finds out?
Poor Chas has been a mess since she discovered her unborn baby girl has a serious health condition – she’s not developed any kidneys and that means she won’t survive.
When Paddy missed the scan where the sonographer broke the heartbreaking news about the baby, Chas couldn’t bring herself to tell him.

When Paddy missed the scan where the sonographer broke the heartbreaking news about the baby, Chas couldn’t bring herself to tell him.
And when Chas eventually revealed the truth, the dad-to-be was completely devastated.
The couple then faced the heartbreaking decision over whether they should abort the baby and say goodbye to their daughter – or if Chas should continue with the pregnancy knowing she can’t survive.
Chas decided that she couldn’t abort the baby and decided to let nature takes its course.
But is she secretly still holding out for a miracle cure for her tragic daughter?
