Loved-up Chas and Paddy are expecting their first child together and are both mega excited about becoming parents. But this week Chas gets some devastating news at her 20 week scan.

Attending alone because of a mix-up with the dates, she discovers she’s having a girl, before the sonographer spots something concerning and asks for someone else to take a look.

What she’s spotted isn’t known but Chas doesn’t tell Paddy there’s something wrong – just that they’re having a daughter.

In denial, Chas is secretly hoping the scan was wrong, but she struggles to cope as Paddy gushes about their baby.

She spends hours painting the nursery, only to break down once she’s left alone.

When Paddy suggests they book a 4D scan, will Chas be able to hide her misery?

Emmerdale shared a clip of the heartbreaking moment Chas discovers there’s something wrong with her baby over the weekend.

In a heartbreaking first look clip posted by ITV onto the Emmerdale website, Chas becomes excited about her baby.

“So clever, I mean it’s amazing, isn’t it? They’re so tiny and they just know what to do. All that growing she’s doing.

“My first daughter, look at you, kicking her legs. Going to be a little ballet dancer, aren’t you? Margarita Fontaine.

“I know you see this every day but it’s amazing for me to see her on there, you know? My baby.”

However, as Chas’ excitement continues the sonographer’s expression changes.

Becoming more serious, she tells Chas: “I’m just going to call someone else in.

“I have some concerns and I just want them to confirm what I’m seeing.”

As Chas begins to panic, the medic tries to keep her calm.

She tells her: “Just try to relax, I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

Chas looks heartbroken at the worry on the nurse’s face, but it has yet to be revealed what will happen with her new baby daughter.

The landlady and partner Paddy Kirk have been overjoyed recently with the news of their baby so any potential issues will devastate the couple.
