Max and Rainie are confused next week when Rainie’s mother and Max’s two-times mother-in-law Cora Cross arrives in Albert Square with baby Abi.
The sham newly-weds are currently trying to win custody of the little girl who is the child of Max’s dead daughter, also called Abi and they wonder what Cora is up to.
Her motives become clear however when, after reluctantly leaving the baby with Max and Rainie, Cora meets up with her old friend Patrick and pours her heart out to him.
Patrick encourages Cora to put the past behind her and repair her relationship with Rainie, which obviously gives Cora food for thought as, when Max leaves Rainie alone with Abi, Cora pops back round.
She suggests that they try to move on from the past before presenting Rainie with a very tempting offer indeed.
Max grows suspicious after seeing Rainie and Cora talking and questions his wife as to whose side she’s really on and they end up having a blazing row.
The next day Rainie tries to talk to Max about Cora but he’s not in the mood for listening and ends up leaving her even more upset than before. Well played Max.
Furious Rainie finds Cora and asks her more about the offer she made the night before.
But Cora then upsets Rainie when she implies that all she’s interested in is money.
Eventually Cora is about to give up on winning Rainie round when her daughter asks for a cheque.
Is she about to turn her back on Max for good?
It was recently revealed that Cora was set to make yet another return to Walford and get locked in a bitter custody battle over baby Abi.
The last time we saw the fiery OAP was at granddaughter Abi’s funeral in February, where she warned Max to stay away from the family once and for all.
But we all know Max doesn’t take no for an answer. So he married his ex-wife Tanya’s sister Rainie, in the hope it would strengthen his case as a good baby daddy.
An insider told the Daily Mirror: “Max and Rainie are stunned when Cora shows up out of the blue with little Abi and are even more shocked when she allows them to spend time with her.

“It soon becomes clear she has an ulterior motive… is she about to ruin their chances of getting baby Abi?”
Hmmm….knowing Cora she’s definitely got something up her sleeve.
