It came as a shock as we all know that – in Soap Land – justice is done and innocent people don’t get sent down for crimes they didn’t commit – not for long anyway.
Most fans were left bemused at how Anna became a jailbird while the real villain – Pat Phelan who framed her for attempting to kill Seb Franklin – walked away.
Fans were so outraged they threatened to boycott the show until Anna got justice.
But now Corrie has hinted that we possibly haven’t seen the last of Anna – or her injustice.
Debbie Rush, who played downtrodden Anna, confirmed she was leaving the ITV soap last year, and then made a video saying that Monday’s court scenes were her last on Corrie.
But now fans are wondering if – while Debbie might have left Corrie – she’s not left Anna behind just yet.
Could there be a spin-off in the works?
Corrie’s official Twitter account retweeted a fan’s comment after Anna’s son Gary wasn’t allowed to visit her in prison.
They said: “I’m looking forward to the spinoff show: Orange is the New Anna.”
