Johnny finds comfort in Liz's arms after an argument with Jenny

It seems poor Jenny can’t do right from wrong in Johnny’s eyes at the moment, and when the couple have a huge argument next week it’s Liz who offers Johnny a shoulder to cry on.

When Jenny accidentally spills coffee of the suit that Johnny has picked out for Aidan’s burial, the grieving dad sees red.

Despite the fact it was an accident, Johnny can’t contain his anger at his other half any longer and tells her he doesn’t want her coming to the chapel of rest to say a final goodbye to Aidan.

But just to rub salt in her wounds, Johnny meets Liz while he is waiting for a cab and she offers to go along to the chapel with him.

Jenny catches the pair heading off in a cab together and is heartbroken.

But that’s the least of Jenny’s worries by the end of the week.

Jenny finds herself in Johnny’s bad books once again when he finds out his family have been lying to him about Aidan’s will.

It’s only when he sees Alya confronting Carla, Jenny and Kate that the penny drops and he realises that his son has left the factory to his business partner.

Johnny is fuming at being kept in the dark, but it seems to be Jenny who bears the brunt of his anger once again when he bans her from Aidan’s funeral.

After growing his sorrows, a drunk Johnny heads over to Liz’s flat for some moral support. But he gets more than he bargained for when they end up kissing passionately.

The next day is Aidan’s funeral, and Johnny wakes up full of guilt and tells Jenny that he wants her by his side at the service.

But how long will it take Jenny to work out Johnny is just trying to hide a huge secret?

After the funeral Johnny is numb with grief and stares at his son’s coffin in the ground. Jenny tries to offer him comfort, but he isn’t having any of it, telling her he wants to be alone.

However it is a different story when Liz offers him a shoulder to cry on and he ends up going back home with her.

Emotionally drained, Johnny tells Liz that he can’t even bear to be in the same room as Jenny, and before long he is confessing his true feelings for Liz. But is the feeling mutual?

It looks like it might be, because the pair end up spending the night together.

Jenny is worried sick when Johnny doesn’t come home, but when he finally walks through the door the next morning he simply blanks her.

He then goes back to Liz’s flat and tells confesses his undying love. But does Liz want a relationship as well? Is it just Johnny’s grief doing the talking? And where does this leave poor Jenny?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
