EastEnders boss John Yorke teased that Whitney Dean would have a new love interest when he recently revealed what’s in store for some of the characters in 2018.
Now it seems her latest romance could be with none other than ‘Halfway’ Highway as pictures from next week’s episodes reveal the pair on a date.
The images show the couple sharing Champagne on a reserved table in The Vic with Halfway giving Whitney a red rose.
It seems the date is a set up by Whitney’s sister Tiffany, as she continues to scheme to find a way to keep her relative in Albert Square after Whitney recently made plans to move to Yorkshire to start a new life.
Could Halfway be a reason she now decides to stay?
It would be a complicated romance given he’s the friend of her ex-husband Lee Carter.
The character, played by Tony Clay, arrived on The Square in dramatic fashion on New Year’s Day as he was involved in the bungled heist where he shot Mick Carter.

Ever since, he’s been staying with the Carters who remember him fondly from their son’s Army days.
Whitney had so far been very unlucky in love when it comes to Carters and their associates.
After her marriage to Lee failed when he walked out on her, she then fell in love with his dad Mick. But he chose his wife Linda over an affair with his former daughter-in-law.
She then fell for Linda’s friend and Vic bar manager Woody, but he also walked out on her despite promising they would get married and live together in The Med.
So could Whitney, played by Shona McGarty, finally find happiness with Halfway?
A spanner in the works could be the return of Woody later this year.

EastEnders insiders have promised he will be back as he was only written out of the soap for a short time to allow actor Lee Ryan to honour work commitments with his boyband Blue.
So it seems Whitney’s love life is going to carry on being complicated in 2018!
