A former Britain’s Got Talent winner has been left with a broken nose and two black eyes following a violent mugging.
Jamie Lambert of boyband Collabro – who won the show in 2014 – was attacked with brass knuckles by a gang in central London on Wednesday.
He recalled the dreadful attack in a Twitter statement.
The singer told his followers: “Hi guys. Thanks for the concern as to where I’ve been. I was assaulted in an attempted robbery on Wednesday.
“I’m absolutely fine but taking time to relax and recover physically/mentally.
“The boys and HQ are taking good care of me. Carry on as normal please!”
In an interview with The Sun, Jamie revealed that he had been approached – and subsequently attacked – by the gang in broad daylight, while he was out shopping.
“They asked me to hand over their belongings and I said, because we were in a busy street, ‘Are you mad?'”, he explained.
“The physical aspect of things didn’t faze me. It’s not so much [that] but the mental side that gets you after.”
Jamie’s mum revealed on Twitter what an awful shock the news about the assault was for her.
She wrote: “It’s been a tough few days – no one wants to get a phone call like that or see a member of their family hurt.”
Jamie’s attackers were left empty handed and are currently being sought by police.
Hope you’re feeling much better soon, Jamie.
