It’s always hard to follow in the footsteps of a successful and beloved colleague.
So much pressure to equal their achievements or, ideally, better them, and the constant worry that everyone just wants the old person to come back as you’re not living up to expectations.

Well, apparently that’s also true in the soap world, with Emmerdale actor Joe Gill saying he’s been put off ever doing a certain reality show because of a co-star.
The show in question? That would be I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! And the colleague in question is Adam Thomas, who finished in a respectable third place in last year’s jungle.
Chatting to reporters this week, Joe said he wouldn’t be tempted to sign up for I’m A Celeb as Adam was too hard an act to follow.
He said: “I can’t see myself doing that, and Adam’s a very hard act to follow.
“Entertainment-wise, I don’t think you could get much better than that really, so I think whoever goes in after him has got a tough act to follow.”
Aww, come on, Joe, give it a go! Everyone’s unique and brings something different to the show!
And it’s not just an up close and personal experience with bugs, snakes and creepy crawlies that Joe’s ruled out – he also has zero interest in a stint on the dance floor.
When asked if he’d do Strictly Come Dancing, he laughed: “My old mate Gemma Atkinson is smashing it on Strictly, but that’s probably not for me.
“Although I did some ballroom dancing in a charity event recently, I had to dance a pasa double and I was awful!
“If I did Strictly I’d end up embarrassing myself.”
Hmm… perhaps it’s all a red herring, though, and Joe is actually gearing himself up for the jungle or the like?
After all, he has the time, following his character’s shock death this week.
Yes, Finn Barton made a dramatic exit from the soap at the hands of his own mother, after Emma shot him dead during tense scenes.
Reacting to his character’s demise, he told fans: “Earlier this year, I made the very tough decision to leave the show in order to pursue other challenges.
“The four years I have spent in Emmerdale have been the best of my life and I couldn’t have asked for better people to be around.”

As for the future, he said: “I’m back auditioning and am very excited, anything is possible. Ideally I’d like to delve back into a bit of theatre which I’d done a lot of before I started Emmerdale.
“It was intimidating being on a studio set when I joined having been more familiar with stage work, now the thought of theatre frightens me a bit so it would be nice to get back to that to prove I can do it.”
Best of luck, Joe!
