Weddings are tricky things, aren’t they? The invite list is bound to cause stress, and then there’s the table plan – it’s a real minefield.
At Andrea McLean’s recent high-profile nuptials, it was a minefield she didn’t make it across unscathed.
The Loose Women star tied the knot with Nick Feeney at the end of November, on the 30th – which was the fourth anniversary of their first date.
And she invited a who’s who of showbiz pals to celebrate with her at an enormous party including Linda Robson, Nadia Sawalha and Stacey Solomon.
Unfortunately, somebody’s invite got lost in the post.
That somebody was former Loose Women colleague Carol McGiffin, who wasn’t best pleased about being left out.
And in her column for Best magazine, Carol gave a bit of a dig to Andrea, thinly veiled as a congratulatory message.
She wrote: “I’m ecstatic for them both, even though I wasn’t invited to the wedding…!
“She looked radiantly happy, as did he, so it’s all good. What’s not good, though, is that Andrea’s managed to squeeze in two weddings in less time than I’ve been engaged to Mark, which is a bit embarrassing to say the least!”
Carol’s partner Mark Cassidy, 35, put a ring on it in 2008, but the pair are yet to set a date for nuptials.
Medical issues have caused the delay, as Carol, 57, has been battling breast cancer, and in a joint interview with Mark in 2016 revealed the reason for the long engagement.
She told Bella Magazine: “Nothing’s happened but I keep thinking the cancer will come back, which is making me not do things.
“I worry that it’s coming back and then think, ‘What’s the point?’ Do you know what I mean? It’s complete paranoia. I’m really scared that it’s all just going to go wrong again.”
Carol also wasn’t the only high-profile celeb not to get an invite. Katie Price wasn’t invited either, although most other panelists including Saira Khan and Kaye Adams were pictured posing up a storm.
You can’t please everyone, Andrea! And it looks like you certainly had fun – which is what it’s all about.
