No one has been really sure what became of Kat and Alfie Moon after their spin-off show, Redwater, ended and seemed to kill the EastEnders legends off.
Shane Richie appeared on This Morning earlier today and assured us that not only are the couple alive and kicking, but there’s a chance they could head back to Walford. YAY!

Shane told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: “So we did the very last episode where Alfie’s flat lying on a gurney, Kat is lying face-down on a beach in her own blood, and to all intents and purposes, we thought Kat and Alfie were dead.
“John Yorke – who is taking over EastEnders – in 2001/2002 he created the Slaters and the Moons, and he’s now back and he’s probably one of the best at this kind of show. He’s one of the best executive producers I’ve ever worked with and he’s back at EastEnders now.
“So, y’know, there might be a little… who knows what happened to Kat and Alfie? At the moment I still think we’re living in Spain, running a pub on the Costa Del Sol.”
Hmm, last we heard Alfie was having his brain operated on and Kat had her head sliced open by a speedboat propeller. But whatevs.
Shane also spoke to The Sun last month about the fate of the much-loved characters.
He said: “Thankfully, Kat and Alfie are not dead. That’s as much as I know.”
He added: “Trust me, if I get the phone call from EastEnders . . . I loved being there. I’ve got a lot of friends that are still there.
“If I got the phone call to come back, I’d love the idea.”
John Yorke has already orchestrated returns for Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) and Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) so a return for Shane and Jessie Wallace is not an impossible feat.

We’d love to see #Kalfie and their brood back on the Square.
Plus it would stop Shane making albums. JUST KIDDING!
