Alexandra Burke has revealed lovely new details about her engagement to boyfriend, Josh Ginnelly.
The singer announced the happy news earlier this month, revealing her diamond ring in an Instagram post that now has more than 60,000 likes.
And speaking to Good Morning Britain presenters Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid on Wednesday morning, the Strictly finalist confirmed it was a ridiculously romantic moment.
Alexandra said: “It was literally two days after the Strictly final. I just got woken up at four in the morning and [Josh] said, ‘Pack your bag we are going to Paris’.
“I was like oh wow that’s amazing!”
She added that the proposal – which happened on 18th December but wasn’t announced until 7th January – took her completely by surprise.
“I definitely didn’t expect that to happen at all. We’re both very, very happy.”
Alex and Josh have been dating since April 2016 and it’s the first time we’ve heard properly from the pair about their big moment.

They announced the news on Instagram earlier this month, with a picture of Alex’s hand, that had, “I said yes” written on it.
She wrote a lengthy caption next to the image that read: “Smiling as I type this because it was the best day ever in Paris and so unexpected.
“My soul mate and my love asked me something that I could only have dreamt of. Being in love is one of the most magical feelings life has to offer.
“So grateful for this amazing man in my life who has supported my family and I through so much.”
Alex added that her fiancé is “someone who makes me so happy and I’ve never felt this kind of love before.”
The soppy singer ended the post by saying: “Here’s to an amazing future that’s filled with love, joy and so much happiness.
“I love you Joshua Ginnelly. I can’t wait to see what our future brings and what God provides for us xxx”.
The 29-year-old X Factor winner also spoke to Susannah and Kate about reports of her “diva” behaviour behind the scenes of Strictly, and the internet trolls that attacked her.
She said: “To read all those kinds of things, it is very upsetting. But I’m such a positive person, in any situation I will always find the positive outlook with it.
“It was hard to read certain things. And a lot of things – they were all untrue. But it didn’t take away from what an amazing time I had on Strictly. My experience was out of this world.
“Those who know me know the truth. I just have to take things with a pinch of salt.”

Alex is currently on tour with the other Strictly finalists and added that: “The tour is amazing, and I just don’t want this to end. I think it’s even better [than doing the show].”
