It’s got oodles of glitz and glamour, a prime-time TV slot – and you get to polish your paso doble with the help of the world’s best dancers.
Why wouldn’t you want to appear on Strictly?
Well, according to the Daily Star, BBC bosses are having trouble attracting celebrities to compete in the next series, due to hit our TV screens in September.
And the reason for the alleged snub may not be what you’d expect…
The newspaper claims that stars are afraid of a Strictly ‘curse’, with a number of previous contestants splitting up with their long-term partners shortly after appearing on the show.
Singer Louise Redknapp, who was a finalist in last year’s series, is said to have broken up with her husband, former Liverpool footballer Jamie Redknapp, after 19 years of marriage.
Louise has reportedly moved out of the family home in Surrey, and was recently spotted holidaying in Majorca with the couple’s two sons – but not Jamie.
And there have been other casualties of the popular dancing programme.
England rugby star Ben Cohen left his wife shortly after appearing in the 2013 series, after becoming romantically linked with Russian dancer Kristina Rihanoff. The couple now have a daughter together.
And in series one, both newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky and her professional partner Brendan Cole split from their off-screen partners after rumours emerged that they’d had an affair during filming of the show, which they won that year.
Kaplinsky later denied that there had been any romance between them.
Polish dancer Ola Jordan, a former Strictly professional, has spoken about the chemistry that happens when people get together to dance on the programme.
“It happens in the movies with actors and it happens on Strictly,” she told the Daily Mirror.
“It happens as people get close. It is the bond you have with your partner.”

The alleged reluctance of celebs to appear in the forthcoming series might explain why show bosses have reportedly offered former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon a six-figure sum to put on her dancing shoes.
Other names rumoured to be taking part in the series include Mary Berry, Jermain Defoe and Olly Murs.
