The BBC has been rocked again by accusations of racism, after a third non-white celebrity contestant was booted off the show.
Over the weekend, BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty lost out in a dance off with US singer Anastacia.
This followed the sad departure of Tameka Empson and pint sized cutie Melvin Odoom from the competition in the previous two weeks.
While most viewers have argued that the celebs who left the show hadn’t danced as well as their challengers.
Other viewers were quick to question why three non-white stars – voted off by the judges – have left the show one after the other.
Hyder Pirwany wrote on Twitter: “@bbcstrictly Third non-white exit from Strictly in a row #BBCbias”
While another called @miw3663 wrote: “Bemused?! Naga and Pasha were far better. #weird. Three weeks in a row and a non white celeb is eliminate. Not saying #Strictly racist.”
However, others were quick to rubbish the accusation of racism.
They suggested that they thought Naga’s less than impressive moves meant she deserved to be kicked off the show.
“I MUST be racist because I thought Anastacia was better than Naga (sic)” said one fan online.
Last week, the BBC released a statement that the voting public are responsible for who ends up in the dance off.
“Judges judge the dancing and the dancing alone, not anything else,” said a spokeswoman.
She also reminded viewers that in all except three of the previous fourteen series of Strictly, the winner or runner-up was either black or mixed race.
