Shirley Ballas urges followers to attend breast screening appointments
The NHS website explains: “NHS breast screening uses X-rays, called mammograms, to look for cancers that are too small to see or feel.
“You’ll automatically get your first invite for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53. Then you’ll be invited every 3 years until you turn 71.”
The National Health Service also recommends that individuals get to grips with the way their breasts feel and look, to help prevent missing any changes that could indicate breast cancer.
The website explains: “Every woman’s breasts are different in terms of size, shape and consistency. It’s also possible for one breast to be larger than the other.
“Get used to how your breasts feel at different times of the month. This can change during your menstrual cycle.
“For example, some women have tender and lumpy breasts, especially near the armpit, around the time of their period.”
