Saturday Night Takeaway fans went into meltdown after Ant and Dec surprised an audience member by teacher her hopeless husband the art of romance.
Giving rugby widow Karen the shock of her life, the Geordie duo arranged for Stuart, her rugby obsessed husband of 21 years, to get the mother of all masterclasses when it comes to matters of the heart.
But it wasn’t Stuart – who even insisted he and Karen got married on a Friday so he could play rugby the following day – or even Ant or Dec who stole the show, but First Dates star Fred Sirieix.
As seen on a hilarious piece of footage watched by long-suffering Karen, the suave Frenchman surprised Stuart on his way to the pub and immediately whisked him away to Paris. But that was just the start of it…
During their time in the City of Love, love guru Fred laid down the law with rugby-obsessed Stuart. “You’ve got to stop thinking about these men with the funny shaped balls,” he said.
But Stuart proved to be a tough nut to crack even for a seasoned pro such as Fred. Introducing him to oysters, Stuart said they smelled “fouler than a clogged bog”.
Even the legendary dancers at the Moulin Rogue failed to make an impact.
But determined Fred is not one to give up and proceeded to send hapless Stuart to Venice where, by some miracle, the idea of romance slowly started to take hold. He was seen placing a padlock on one of the city’s bridges in a sign of eternal love.
Yet there’s more. Back in Blighty, Fred then sent him to see legendary crooner Sir Tom Jones for some expert guidance – all watched by long-suffering Karen in studio.
It was then that the final surprise was revealed: Stuart walking out in front of the live studio audience and singing All You Need Is Love accompanied by a live choir.
Dumbfounded and tearful, Karen was lost for words despite the slightly shambolic vocal display as Stuart paid tribute to his rugby widow wife, saying: “Sorry for taking you for granted for 21 years.”
Aww, bless.
