Lorraine Kelly was overcome with emotion after she was reunited with the doctors and nurses who saved her life following a horse-riding accident in 2012.
Six years ago the Scottish presenter was involved in a terrifying accident after falling from a horse during a charity challenge.
She lost three pints of blood and was rushed to St George’s A&E in South London with life-threatening injuries.

As the NHS marks 70 years, Lorraine returned to the hospital where she was treated.
She told viewers: “It’s strange to be back here. I don’t really remember very much about it. I do know that the paramedics were incredible and looked after me so well.”
Lorraine then met some of the staff who took care of her, including Sarah Krishnanandan, consultant in emergency medicine.
Sarah said: “You came in as a trauma call. We had a team there ready and waiting for you in our resuscitation room. You had a deep wound to your thigh.
“It was important in your case to get you to theatre quickly.”
Lorraine underwent surgery and received “hundreds of stitches” both inside and out.
She told Sarah: “I was obviously terrified, I didn’t know what had happened, I wouldn’t look at it. I actually didn’t look at it for ages.
“Thank you so much, you need to give me a cuddle, because you were absolutely incredible.”
Lorraine then returned to the hospital room where she spent eight weeks recovering from her surgery.
“After A&E, I was taken to surgery and it was like an out of body experience,” she recalled.
She said she remembered saying she wouldn’t be able to go to work the next day.
Lorraine’s daughter, Rosie, also featured in the segment and recalled the difficult time.
She said: “I first realised how serious it was when I saw her the first time – she was really pale and she lost about three pints of blood.
“The staff at St George’s were amazing. The nurses were great.
“Martin [Lorraine’s surgeon] put my mum at ease. He made her feel really comfortable – he made me and my dad feel really comfortable as well.”
At the end of the segment, Lorraine was finally able to thank the staff at the hospital and presented them with a cake.
“Gosh it has been so strange to come back, but amazing as well, and I just wanted to thank you so much for everything.

“And it’s your birthday so we have a little cake, you guys are amazing, you really are.”
She then apologised as she was unable to compose herself.
“I’m sorry – thank you, thanks a million,” she said. “I don’t know what we would do without the NHS.”
