Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has revealed that her relationship with Vernon Kay is a “work in progress”.
In a candid chat with The Times, she said: “Marriage is a work in progress. Vernon and I are just people, at the end of the day.
“All marriages have their moments.”
There’s more interest in the couple’s relationship than either would like after Vernon was caught sending naughty messages to glamour model Rhian Sugden six years ago.
The scandal blew up again last year, as it emerged that TV host Vernon had been back in touch with the former CBB housemate, even apparently trying to meet up with her.
The father of two released a statement in explanation of his actions, saying: “I recognise how it may look when messages are pulled out of context but there was never any inappropriate intent to our communication.
“I was merely trying to find answers to questions I’ve had since 2010.”
Rhian has been vocal about how she has been vilified, which Vernon as apparently been let off the hook, saying earlier this year: “He got drunk and sent inappropriate text messages to me.
“And I’m the one people would pour drinks on. I’m the one people would spit on.
“My career didn’t go anywhere but his went up. I even lost contracts. I was just known as a sex-texter.”
She had more sympathy for Tess, Vernon’s wife of 14 years, telling The Sun: “I just think, poor Tess Daly getting all this attention again for no reason.
“If we had a full blown affair I’d understand, but text messages from 2010 is a bit much now.
“It’s old news. If I could erase the internet I would. I feel like that’s all I’m known for.”
