The Chase fans mock contestant after a series of embarrassing blunders

From hero to zero for the policewoman!

The Chase fans couldn’t believe their eyes and ears yesterday, as a policewoman went down in flames after a series of epic mistakes.

Thursday’s (31 January) episode of the popular quiz show saw Detective Sergeant Fiona take on Anne Hegerty’s Governess, and things started so well when she managed to answer nine questions correctly.

Yes, NINE!

However, viewers were stunned when she FAILED to get through to the Final Chase – despite scoring £9,000 in the cash builder.

Fiona faced a number of difficult questions and was only able to answer TWO correctly – meaning she ended up being booted out of the ITV competition early.

Viewers expressed their surprise on Twitter, with one saying: “Well I wasn’t expecting that!! #thechase.”

Another said: “Oh dear, what a shame after a great cash builder #thechase.”

A third remarked: “Oh noooooooo that’s such a shame. Fiona got a lot of hard questions and wasn’t lucky with her guesses. I had such high hopes for her, too, after we were spoilt yesterday with a winning formula. #TheChase.”

Others said they were “gutted” for Fiona.

The day before, two contestants had made history by both consecutively scoring 10 points and going through to beat Paul Sinha, aka The Sinnerman, and winning £25,000 between three of them.

However, some fans weren’t as sympathetic and were annoyed with the policewoman for getting a question wrong about Spanish art, after having said it was her hobby.

Host Bradley Walsh asked Fiona a question about Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.

The question was: “Holding over 500 of his works, what London museum is home to one of the world’s most important collections of Picasso?

Fiona had to choose from the multiple choice questions of the British Museum, National Gallery and Tate Britain.

While Fiona answered The National Gallery, she noticed Bradley gave her a stern look and said: “I don’t like that look.”

Unfortunately for Fiona the correct answer was the British Museum.

One fan mocked her, saying: “How ironic for a Spanish art lover to get a Picasso question wrong #TheChase.”

Another laughed: “ Spanish art expert – gets Picasso question wrong.”

A third joined in the gentle scolding, tweeting: “‘I love Spanish art Bradley’ – Gets a Spanish art question wrong.”

“Love Spanish art do ya? [Bleep] me #thechase,” joked one more.

Oh dear, Fiona, better luck next time?
