A contestant on The Chase may have to go into hiding for a little bit, after getting a question epically wrong.
Yesterday (Wednesday 6 February), host Bradley Walsh introduced Peter, Amber, Anjali and Lesley to the quiz show – all four of them hoping for a slice of money pie.
As well as the kudos of taking on and beating the Chaser, in this case Anna Hegerty’s The Governess, and enjoying their 15 minutes of fame.

But Anjali may have enjoyed notoriety for ALL the wrong reasons!
Stepping up to the podium to answer her cash builder questions, Bradley asked her a literary question: “Which Sherlock character has the first name Greg?”
In a television moment that had viewers crying in frustration, Anjali answered: “Sherlock Holmes.”

Errr, did she misunderstand the question? Or did her nerves get the better of her under pressure?
Fans of the books and TV series, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the brainiac sleuth, will know that the correct answer was Inspector Lestrade.
Not Sherlock Holmes, whose first name is Sherlock… not Greg.
Fans had lots of fun at Anjali’s expense on Twitter, with one joking: “Aye, Greg Sherlock Holmes #thechase.”
Another wrote: “Q: In the TV show Sherlock, whose first name is Greg? Anjali: Sherlock Holmes. I think that may be the most pig [bleep] thick stupid answer I have ever heard on a quiz show.”

A third added: “Sherlock Holmes, also known as Greg. #TheChase.”
“Watching The Chase. Bradley asks: ‘Which character in the TV series Sherlock has the first name Greg?’ Answer: ‘Sherlock Holmes.’ Where do they get these people from?!” asked another.
Unbelievably, despite earning the rather low score of £2,000, Anjali accepted the high offer of £40,000 – which she lost.
A shocked fan tweeted: “Woman who thought Sherlock Holmes’ first name was ‘Greg’ is going for the £40,000 high offer in The Chase. That is something.”
While Anjali went home with her tail between her legs and no cash, all three of her fellow competitors did make it through to the Final Chase.
