The Chasers steal the show on Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief

Is there nothing they can't do?

They’re the fountain of all knowledge but the masterminds of The Chase proved they’re also rather gifted when it comes to footwork and hitting the high notes.

Thrilling viewers whilst taking part in Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief, the ITV quiz show stars took on new roles as they recreated the Wizard of Oz.

Anne Hegerty (The Governess) transformed into the Scarecrow and Mark Labbett became the cowardly lion (The Beast) while Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer) shone as the Tin Man.

But it was Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) who took control of proceedings as flame-haired Dorothy with a wonderful rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. The spectactle was brought to a dramatic close by Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph who sppeared on stage as the Wicked Witch of the West.

Fronted by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, the show was judged by a panel that comprised of Claudia Winkleman, comedian Russell Kane and actor Adil Ray from Citizen Khan.

Despite no sign of Toto and stiff competition from the likes of Strictly star Ola Jordan and EastEnders actor Danny Boy-Hatchard, the formidable foursome proved to be the biggest hit by winning the heat and making it to the final alongside the stars of Casualty and Holby City.

They also proved to be the runway stars of the show with jubiliant viewers who took to Twitter in their drove to, er, sing their praises.

One said: ‪’#TheChasers‬‪ on #LetsSingAndDance for @comicrelief was simply amazing. Fantastic effort from the team‬’‬

While another tweeted: ‘Wow that was brilliant! There is nothing ‪#thechasers‬ can’t win! ‪#LetsSingAndDance‬.

Another gushed: ‘OMG! The Chasers singing and dancing to the Wizard of Oz is something I never knew I needed until now. I love them so much.’

Bring on the final!
