The slip-up happened on Twitter when the chaser commented on one of his co-star’s appearances on the ITV quiz show.
As Paul Sinha took on four contestants in an epic battle which he won, amid much criticism of the show being “fixed”, Mark commented on one of the questions.
Paul ultimately beat the team, despite failing to get a question correct about novelist Jane Austen.

Host Bradley Walsh asked: “Which regency author created the character Miss Bates?”
When Paul incorrectly answered Georgette Heyer, the contestants also offered the wrong answer of George Eliot.
When, in fact, the answer was Jane Austen.
Watching from home, Mark tweeted his 108,000 followers, saying: “#thechase Jane Austin, still relevant today.”

But one follower was very quick to point out his blooper, pulling him up on the correct spelling of the VERY famous author’s name.
She said: “Excuse me, it’s AustEn not AustIn.”
To which Mark blamed autocorrect, responding: “Damn Spellcheck :).”
Of course, ED! readers will know that Jane Austen wrote some of the most famous novels in history.
