But they’re not the only one leaving.

So too is nun Sister Mary Cynthia.

Emerald Fennel and Katy Lamb, who play Patsy and Delia, and Bryony Hannah, who plays Sister Mary, have quit the 1960s drama and producers have been kind enough to agree not to kill them off.

Phew!

Which means this might not be the last we see of the gals.

According to the Mirror, Emerald is sticking to Period drama to play Lady Ada Lovelace in ITV’s Victoria with Jenna Coleman.

Producers are sad to see the girls but embrace the fact the show is an ever changing beast.
“Comings and goings are part of life in Call the Midwife and we wish Emerald, Kate and Bryony luck,” a spokesperson for the show said of the departures

“We are always sad when actors move on, but time and again it has proved hugely exciting to bring new faces and personalities into the mix.”

Viewers were transfixed at the end of the last series in March when the girls enjoyed their first smooch on screen.

In the episode Patsy returned to London after her father had fallen ill, she and told Delia: “I got on the boat the day after his funeral. Wherever I go next, you’re coming with me.”

Viewers were thrilled by the emotional scene.
