In the past few weeks, EastEnders bosses have announced the departure of several young characters. Abi and Lauren Branning and Ben Mitchell played by Lorna Fitzgerald, Jacqueline Jossa and Harry Reid, will all bow out in the next few months.

Following the controversial axings, Tilly is hopeful that the future is bright for her place on the show.

She told The Sun that she’ll miss her on-screen bro, but she’s happy to carry on without him.

Tilly said: “I want to stay at EastEnders for as long as I can. As long as they’re happy and they want me, I will stay.”

She added: “I don’t know what is going on but I really want to stay.”

Fans were shocked by the news that Harry, who has played Ben since 2014, was to be written out.

In fact, many of them took the news really badly, with a group of disgruntled fans even starting an online petition to keep him on the show.

Ben has been played by five actors since his birth in 1996, but Reid has arguably been the most successful – and popular – of his incarnations.

He took over the role in September 2014 and has firmly cemented his place in the Mitchell clan.

Ben has struggled with his sexuality over the years, but finally came out as gay when he went public with his relationship with Paul Coker.

Tragically, Paul was beaten to death by a bunch of homophobic thugs just weeks later.

Recently Ben hooked up with newcomer Luke Willmott-Brown in the Arches, and fans are fearful this won’t lead to anything good for Ben.

The pair seem to be getting cosy – and it turned out that Luke’s dad is James Willmott-Brown, who’s out to destroy all of Walford,

The big question is, will it be an into the sunset ending for Ben?

Or will they *gulp* kill him off?

EastEnders have confirmed that Harry’s final scenes will air before the end of the year.
