Top TV presenting duo reunited to host revamp of The Generation Game

They have some big shoes to fill

Former Great British Bake Off presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are back together as hosts, this time reviving TV classic The Generation Game.

The popular pair have pursued solo projects since their time on the baking contest came to an end. Boo!

But they will be reunited for the game show previously hosted by Bruce Forsyth, Larry Grayson and Jim Davidson. ‘Ray!

Due to air on BBC One, the programme will include many features familiar to fans of previous series.

Pairs of contestants from different generations of families take on tasks in the hope of securing a chance at winning prizes from the show’s famous conveyor belt.

Each contestant couple will start off in the studio audience before being selected to take part.

Giedroyc and Perkins said: “It’s a cuddly toy, it’s a toaster, it’s a circular power saw, no it’s Mel and Sue doing The Generation Game!

“We can’t believe it, we are so excited!”

Editor of special events and formats at BBC Studios Guy Freeman said: “When asked, this is the TV show that viewers most wanted to see back on their screens.

“We are thrilled to be able to make that happen with Mel and Sue, who I know will have just as much fun hosting it as contestants will playing it.”

Mel has recently been seen hosting BBC singing contest Pitch Battle, which ended last night, while Sue fronted game show The Big Spell.

The new series will include celebrity judges for some of the tasks.

It has yet to be announced when the series will be shown.
