Torvill and Dean WILL be on new Dancing On Ice

Reports have suggested they'll return

It was revealed earlier this week that ITV are in talks to bring back Dancing On Ice.

But the news came with the sad revelation that ice legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dead WOULDN’T be appearing on the revived reality show.

It’s fair to say we were in uproar. What’s Dancing on Ice without Torvill and Dean?

Well, fortunately it’s now been revealed that the skating duo ARE in talks to appear.

Phew!

When the show finished in 2014, the pair had said they wanted to leave “while at the top of our game” after feeling they had “come full circle”.

They were preparing to celebrate 30 years since winning gold at the 1984 Olympics with their iconic Bolero routine.

Christopher said at the time: “We’ve had this wonderful experience and we just wanted to finish at the top of our game and the show to be on top of its game.”

It was their decision to leave that prompted ITV to retire the whole show after then boss Peter Fincham didn’t want to carry on without them.

But when the revival was first brought up by new ITV boss Kevin Lygo, it looked like he disagreed with his predecessor and felt the show didn’t need Torvill and Dean.

However, it’s now been revealed that’s not the case, and the pair are apparently in talks to return.

A source told The Mirror Online: “Jayne and Chris were a huge part of Dancing On Ice’s original success – it wouldn’t be the same without them.”

We couldn’t agree more!

Speaking last year about the original decision to axe Dancing On Ice, Lygo said:

“I think when Dancing On Ice was cut, it was felt, ‘oh we need to refresh, it’s gone down a bit in the ratings’.

“I watched it, it was the most lovely family show and a really good feeling and distinctive and brilliantly produced, and actually I wish it had gone on a bit longer.”

We really hope it is coming back and Torvill and Dean are too.
