As we knew she would be, TOWIE’s Gemma Collins is already proving to be TV gold on the new series of Celebs Go Dating – getting into an argument with one of the love gurus and threatening to quit, all in the first episode.
On Sunday night’s opener of the Channel 4 show, we saw the 37-year-old attend a party with 50 hot young singletons.
Things seemed tense from the off, when she met matchmakers Eden Blackman and Lady Nadia Essex: “You work for me. I’m putting a lot of pressure on you.”
They looked shocked and told her they could work together.
But instead of mingling at the party, The GC sat in a corner, where she stared at her phone all evening.
The first person to approach the reality star was a taxi driver, who made the mistake of calling her “love”.
“Honey, don’t call me love. Love makes me feel old,” Gemma told him.
And when the endearment slipped out a second time, she sent him away, saying: “I’m going to be really honest with you, you’ve called me ‘love’ twice now and it’s just not going to work out for us.”
A guy called Martin was next to approach, and things initially seemed more promising, as Gemma asked: “Do you want to go on a date with me?” But when he blurted out: “Of course I would, I would really love to lose my virginity to you,” she rejected him.
There are eight celebs appearing in this series. As well as Gemma, singletons looking for love include singer Tallia Storm, comedian London Hughes, Olympian Jade Jones, Made In Chelsea stars Sam Thompson and Ollie Locke, US actor Jonathan Lipnicki and Love Island’s ‘Muggy’ Mike Thalassitis.
And one of the other celebs, at least, caught Gemma’s eye.
As Mike, 25, arrived, GC exclaimed: “Is that Muggy Mike? Oh, he’s stunning. That’s the kind of guy I like.”
But Muggy Mike didn’t even look over, as he worked the room, and Gemma remained in her corner.

Eventually, Nadia and Eden came over to tell her off. And that’s when Gemma kicked off, telling Eden: “What, I’ve got to talk to them? The sort of man I would end up with would bowl over to me.
“There was one guy that was quite nice, but he was wearing brown shoes and I prefer black shoes.”
When Eden looked annoyed at this, she snapped: “Eden, you’re not getting it, if you pull faces at me, I’m leaving the agency and I’m never coming back.”
She added: “I’ll be honest, if I don’t feel that you can nail it, I’ll shake hands with you both and walk away.”
Eventually, the matchmakers sent someone named Laurence over, and he and Gem seemed to hit it off over their shared love of lobster.
But at the end of the night, Gemma’s reluctance to mingle backfired spectacularly when only one man – Laurence – said he was interested in dating her.
While the other celebs all had their pick of people, Gemma was left red-faced as she told Laurence she was not sure she wanted to go out with him anyway.
Eden had clearly had enough by then, sternly telling her to: “Show him some respect and give him an answer.”
The diva reluctantly agreed to a date, snapping at Eden: “You’re boring the [bleep] out of me.”
Fans were divided by Gemma’s antics on the show, with some tweeting that she was hilarious and “making my life”, and others calling her behaviour “disgraceful”.
